Small Plane Crashes in Conn.

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — A small plane has crashed at the side of a road in Danbury with no serious injuries reported.

A Danbury Municipal Airport administrator tells the Danbury News-Times the plane went down near South Street at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The plane’s parachute deployed and caught in power lines, apparently breaking its fall.

Three people aboard were able to walk away and were being checked by emergency medical personnel at the scene.

The plane rested nose-down in some trees near the intersection of South Street and Wixted Avenue. Emergency officials said power might be temporarily cut to remove the parachute.

Mike Safranke, the airport’s assistant administrator, tells the News-Times the small Cirrus plane is one of the few equipped with a parachute.
