WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A number of children are in the hospital this afternoon after the school bus they were riding in collided with another motor vehicle in Westfield.

Police received the call at 3:21 p.m. today for a crash involving a school bus on Jefferson Street off of Washington Street.

While Westfield Officer, John Blascak couldn’t say how many children were on the bus, he did say he was not aware of any injuries at this time.

However, Blascak explains, “The children were brought to Noble Hospital just as a precautionary measure by another bus that picked them up.”

Police remain on scene to investigate the cause of this accident and are asking drivers to avoid the area for now.
