Suspects Arrested after Raid on Sherwood Road Home

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Two men are under arrest after police raid a Sixteen Acres home and find a cache of improperly stored firearms.

Sprinfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that members of the members of the Springfield Police Vice and Narcotics Team had received information that 28-year-old Timothy Oswald, who also was known as Luigi Castagnetta, had several firearms improperly stored at a home on Sherwood Road.

Investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for the home and around 6:30 Wednesday night, officers went to conduct a raid.

As officers moved in, they allegedly saw Oswald leave the home with another man and take off in a car. The car was pulled over a short time later where Oswald and 20-year-old Akeem Castro were arrested

Confiscated from a closet during the raid were:

  • .45 caliber glock
  • .380 colt
  • .44 caliber Ruger
  • .38 revolver
  • .357 Ruger
  • Winchester Rifle
  • AK-47 Assault Rifle
  • .410 Shotgun
  • 12 Gauge Shot Gun
  • .44 caliber Ruger
  • Over 2300 rounds of various ammunition.

Officers also allegedly found a .32 caliber handgun, brass knuckles, and a switchblade in the car.

Oswald is facing nearly two dozen charges including nine counts of possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a high-capacity feeding device, and nine charges of improper storage of a firearm.

Castro is being charged with carrying a firearm and possession of a firearm.

Both men were arraigned Thursday in Springfield District Court. Oswald is being held on $1 million bail.
