Citizens Bank Targeted in Cyber Protest
January 25th, 2013
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Citizen’s Bank is the latest institution to become a victim of a cyber attack.
The bank’s website was down Thursday afternoon, blocking customers from accessing their accounts online.
“Our website has experienced a temporary disruption due to an unusually high volume of Internet traffic, similar to disruptions that recently have impacted other U.S. banks,” Citizens Bank said in a statement.
Representatives for the bank said customer accounts and personal information was not affected in the incident.
Citizens Bank encouraged customers to call on its 24/7 customer service line at 800-922-9999 or to visit a local branch or ATMs for their banking needs.
Capital One had similar issues with their website Wednesday night.
