Gas Leak Forces Evacuation of Springfield Buildings
January 25th, 2013
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A gas leak forced some Springfield buildings to be evacuated Friday afternoon.
Dennis Leger, aide to Springfield’s Fire Commissioner, says that just around 2:00 p.m., firefighters were called to the area of Wason Street and Fisk Street.
Leger adds that a backhoe that was working on a building under construction hit a gas line, causing a leak.
Crews from Columbia Gas were able to shut off the leak.
People in some neighboring buildings had been evacuated for a time, but around 2:45 p.m., everyone was being allowed back inside.

No this is Main Street close to the Chicopee border. Not far from Chestnut Middle School
Looks like people need better training on heavy equipment
Why was Springfield coming to .
Watson Ave is in the North End of Springfield. No where near the last area. Not near where casinos will go
