HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) – A Holyoke-based health center says that they have cut about a dozen positions.
Jay Breines, the executive director of Holyoke Health Center, says in a statement that a little more than 12 positions, made up of full-time and part-time employees, were eliminated this week.
The positions were impacted by contracts and grants that either ended or have reduced funding. Breines adds, “The Health Center does not have the resources to maintain positions that are not covered by contracts, grants or third party reimbursements.”
Many of those effected employees worked in the practice’s medical records department and Breines adds that they were notified of the possible cuts while they began transitioning to electronic medical
“Change is a reality for any organization as it develops and grows. We need to ensure that we can best provide quality, affordable patient centered medical, dental and pharmacy services in the most efficient way,” Brienes notes.
Holyoke Health Center, which has its main office in downtown Holyoke, offers medical, physical therapy, and dental services at eight locations across the area.
