NY Dad Forgets Baby in Car for 8 Hours on Cold Day

COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a New York man who left his 1-year-old son in his car for eight hours in frigid weather hasn’t been charged.
Police in the Albany suburb of Colonie say the man forgot to drop off his son at day care and left the child strapped in the back seat of the car when he parked outside his office Thursday morning.
Officials say the man didn’t realize his mistake until he returned to the car around 4 p.m. He called for an ambulance and the boy was checked out at a hospital and released. Police say the baby didn’t suffer any injuries despite temperatures that didn’t top 15 degrees.
Police said Friday that they haven’t determined yet if the father would be charged, but their investigation is continuing.

The idiot could not have forgot his kid. The child should be removed from his “care”. There must be some family member of his that would actually love the child enough to take care of that poor baby.

Your telling me the kid made no noise at all for him to forget he was back there. How irresponsible of a parent is he? I have 2 girls one is 7 and the other is 2, they are constantly making noise or talking. They need to stick him inside a freezer naked for 8 hrs and then see if he’s alive.
You people are harsh. Do any of you have kids? When you go through a sleep-deprived stretch due to teething, sickness, or whatever else, you are a zombie…and if daycare is on the way to work and the kid is sleeping in the backseat, I could easily see this happening to many otherwise fine parents. The baby is ok, so give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

it happens all the time. if the kids fell asleep or if dad didn’t usually do the drop off. everyone should make it a habit to check their backseats. I am surprised daycare didn’t call the parents. I have a small daycare and I always call or text when someone doesn’t show up.
How can he plead he “forgot” , his baby but remembered to get up in time for work , get the baby dressed and ready for 15 degree weather , drive to work and then what? Sudden limbo ?
There is no excuse for forgetting your child in the car! I don’t care how sleep deprived, tired or zombified you are, that’s your child and “forgetting” them is in excusable.
When a bus driver forgets a kid they are charged but a parent with only one kid to remember and no charges??? How about parent classes, 1000 hours volunteering on the pedi ward at the hospital and must speak out in public speeches about how it can be prevented. I bet he wouldn’t forget again!!!

I’m by far saying it was right but really he might not usually drop his I’d off and if the kid fell asleep they aren’t making noise so I don’t think this dad intended on doing this, huge mistake o. His part at least the baby’s ok and unlike the Bedford story where the kid wad beat and died
