Sorority Hosts School Uniform Drive

uniform driveSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Being a student can be stressful enough.

Worrying about the cost of school supplies and clothes only adds to that, which is why the Springfield Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority held a school uniform drive at the Progressive Community Church on Saturday.

“Many students only have one school uniform and, in result, sometimes miss school days,” says Jocelyn Cash, social action committee chair. “So we’re collecting uniforms for those students to eliminate barriers to their education.”

Cash estimates they received $300 in monetary donations and about 60 uniforms, which will go right to public elementary school students in Springfield.
