Train Show Rolls Through The Big EWEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — More than 25,000 people braved the cold and packed the Eastern States Exposition for the Amherst Railway Society’s Annual Railroad Hobby Show.
Families enjoyed all things rail-related — from model trains to art work — all displaying the handiwork of enthusiasts.
“It’s really a family oriented hobby, it’s something you can learn and build on it,” says Rich Foster, vice president of sales at MTH Electric Trains. “And in a world of video games and stuff where you’re blowing things up and racing cars, it’s a more wholesome kind of family hobby and most people have fond memories of doing it with their dad or granddad 50 years ago.”
Proceeds from the show go to rail museums, restoration and scholarship funds.
