Whole Foods Recalls Salmon over Listeria Concerns


REGION (WGGB) – Concerns over Listeria is forcing one retailer to recall salmon that was sold in four New England states.

Whole Foods Market is recalling four ounce packages of Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon because it may contain Listeria, an organism that can sicken most people with fever, headaches, and nausea, but can be especially dangerous to pregnant women, young children, those with weakened immune systems, and the elderly

The salmon, with a UPC of 0-99482-40880-0, was packaged in vacuum-sealed pouches with a lot number 7425A2298B on the back of the package.

The recall effects product that was sold in 12 states, including Whole Foods stores in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and Connecticut.

Customers that may have any of this product should throw it away in the trash and wash their hands immediately to avoid possible cross-contamination.
