ABC40 Honor Roll – Student Visits Haiti

Springfield, Mass (WGGB) –  Alysha Romain is a student at The Stoneleigh-Burnham School and is a member of The International Baccalaureate Program.

After Haiti was devastated by an earthquake in 2010 Alysha wanted to do something to help out. She wanted to make an impact. So Alysha did her research, saved her money and got involved in Volunteers for Peace.

This past November she spent 12 days volunteering in Haiti. She worked at the Earthquake-Damaged Community Center. Her group repaired fences and planted crops. She also spent part of her time teaching English. She says she wants to return to Haiti and to continue to do things “Hands on”.
