CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) – A student at the Westover Job Corps is under arrest after allegedly stabbing another student.

Chicopee Police Lt. Mark Higgins says that officers were called to the center around 9:40 a.m. after a student reported that he had been stabbed.

Investigators found that the victim was involved in an altercation Monday night around 10:00 with another student, identified by police as 24-year-old Anthony Martinez of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. when the victim was stabbed in the leg.

Higgins says it’s not known why the victim waited until Tuesday morning to report the incident.

Martinez is being charged with one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.
