Wanted: Anthony McCloud

mcleod anthonySPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – When Springfield Police officers showed up to investigate a breaking and entering at 245 Stapleton Road, they had no idea what awaited them in the basement apartment.

Police say it was thousands of dollars worth of drug paraphernalia; in particular marijuana and Oxycontin. Now the tenant, 26-year-old Anthony McCloud is wanted on several drug charges.

“Home invasions are drug dealers robbing drug dealers.” Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney says. “They’re either looking for money or drugs.”

Police say it happened around 10:30pm on January 12th. Two men wearing masks and carrying guns forced their way into the Stapleton Road residence. A 53-year-old victim was inside. The intruders told the victim they were looking for the tenant renting the basement apartment, McCloud.

“They went downstairs and ransacked the place.” Sgt. Delaney says.

The victim called police and when officers arrived led them to the basement apartment.

“What officers observed was marijuana and oxycodines all over the place. Packaging materials and a scale.” Sgt. Delaney describes.

McCloud is wanted on several drug charges and has yet to be arrested for this crime. If you know of his whereabouts contact Springfield Police or text an anonymous tip to C-R-I-M-E-S.
