SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The tri-town bridge at the Springfield, Ludlow line is back open after a tractor trailer there had to be removed because it almost tipped over.
The call was received by police around 6:30 p.m. tonight.
The bridge located on the Springfield, Indian Orchard, and Ludlow line was closed until just after 8:00 p.m. while crews worked to remove the trailer.
The truck was turning onto the bridge and almost tipped over when its tires went up onto a small curb by the railing forcing it to become significantly unbalanced.
Emergency personnel were able to move it so it was not leaning as severely on the curb, but the damage was enough that it still needed to be towed from the scene.
Police were stationed on either side of the bridge during that time to keep drivers away.

Online news stories that read like a teleprompter are annoying to many readers. That’s according to Facebook users who commented on a story tonight.
That bridge is so undersized for the amount of traffic it receives. I bet its still the same with it was 70 years ago

Must of just got off the Turnpike and heading towards Springfield. With the narrowness of the bridge and the weather being what it was, I am sure the driver couldn’t see the sidewalk. Lucky it didn’t flip at that intersection. Someone would have been hurt.
I have driven for many years and while the intersection doesn’t give you much room it sounds like driver inexperience as you can see it’s a sharp turn clearly in any weather
@Ross Lopata, awesome pic!
As a professional truck driver he should have been more aware of his surroundings.
