Wanted: Christopher Vashawn Mcleod

mcleod, christopherSpringfield (WGGB) – Police say when a 37-year-old criminal broke the window of a clothing store to rob it, the blood he left all over the crime scene gave his identity away. They say Christpher Mcleod is responsible for an October 2011 robbery at the Cabo Fashions and Footwear shop on Liberty Street where more than $500 dollars in merchandise was stolen.

“Several items were gone. A Celtics coat was stolen, like a pullover. A New York coat was stolen – I don’t even know if that’s a crime in Massachusetts, but a Yankees coat was stolen from the store.” Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney says.

Most of the clothing was stolen from mannequins positioned in the front windows, police say. A blood evidence sample was taken from DNA left at the scene. Submitted at the beginning of 2012, the results came back 11 months later. Mcleod was identified as the suspect.

“He has a long record with the Springfield Police Department.” Sgt. Delaney says. “He’s been locked up for burglaries, assaults, and deriving support from prostitution.”

Police say Mcleod has had several addresses all around the city and could be dangerous. If you know of his whereabouts, contact the Springfield Police or text an anonymous tip to C-R-I-M-E-S.
