23 Killed in Pakistan Taliban Attack

Terrorism3PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Officials say 23 people have been killed in an attack by militants on an army post in northwest Pakistan.

Authorities say a dozen attackers were also killed during the attack which included automatic weapons, rocket-propelled grenades and suicide vests.

Ten of the dead are civilians, including three women and three children.

The raid today followed a suicide bombing at a Shiite Muslim mosque elsewhere in the northwest yesterday that killed 24 people. The number of sectarian attacks in Pakistan is on the rise.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for both attacks. The group has been waging a bloody insurgency against the government for years and also has sometimes targeted country’s minority Shiite sect.
