SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Tax season is underway and there’s just about 70 days to get your forms in.
Preparing your taxes can be very confusing, and ABC40 News was here to help.
Experts from the IRS and the Springfield accounting firm of Moriarty & Primack were on hand tonight, taking your calls, and answering your questions during ABC40 News.
One of the most common questions was whether or not buying software to help you do your taxes was a good idea.
“What the programs do, what they are really good at is catching deductions that catch things you may not think of. I would be hard pressed to say where it would not be a good investment and save you money rather than trying to do it by hand,” says Doug Theobald of Moriarty & Primack.
If you are still looking for ways to save money, our experts say it’s hard once the year ends.
But one option you do have is to open an IRA account before April 15 and declare any contributions to the account on your 2012 tax returns.
