Crews Investigate House Fire in Hatfield

hatfield4WEB

HATFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) —  A Hatfield home that caught fire this afternoon was damaged in the thousands of dollars after the flames spread from the garage to the home itself.

The call came in for a fire at 9 Cronin Hill Road just after 4:00 p.m.

Pictures sent into the ABC40 Newsroom from a viewer shows heavy fire coming from the left side of the ranch-style home at the early stages of the blaze.

Four people who were inside were able to make it out safely.

After Fire crews knocked down the flames, they did a search of the interior of the home to make sure the fire was completely out.

Our crew who was on scene spoke with Hatfield Fire Chief, William Belden who said the fire started in the garage area and ended up causing $45,000 to $50,000 in damages to the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
