MIAMI, Fla. (WGGB) — What started as an arraignment on a drug charge ended with a woman in a heap of trouble with one Florida judge
18-year-old Penelope Soto appeared via closed circuit television for an arraignment after being arrested for illegal possession of Xanax earlier this week.
After a brief proceeding, Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat ordered her bail at $5,000.
Soto said “Adios” to the Judge after he was done with her hearing, but he apparently didn’t take kindly to the remark.
The judge ordered Soto back to the microphone where he upped her bail on the charge to $10,000.
Soto became upset and after the Judge was done again, as she walked away, Soto flipped off Rodriguez-Chomat and uttered an expletive towards him.
At that point, Soto was held in contempt of court and ordered to serve 30 days in a county jail.
Soto is due back in court Wednesday.
