SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Police say a shooting early Friday morning was a domestic related murder-suicide.
Springfield Police Capt. Thomas Trites says that around 1:30 Friday morning, 27-year-old Anthony Brown allegedly broke his way into a home at 108 Wellington Street in Springfield, where the mother of his children, 26-year-old Julie Treadwell, lived.
Brown was met at the top of a flight of stairs where he was met by a 28-year-old unidentified man.
Trites adds that Brown and the other man got into a struggle at which time Brown pulled out a gun. The other man was able to break free and jump out a window when Brown shot him once as he lept then a second time when the man reached the ground.
Brown then allegedly went into the apartment, shot and killed Treadwell, before turning the gun on himself.
The male victim suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and shoulder, and was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he is expected to survive.
