Western Mass Communities are Asking MEMA for Help

Government-memaSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A number of towns have had a very difficult time keeping up with plowing in this storm so much so that they are now asking for assistance from the state.

MEMA officials told us that so far Amherst, Pelham, Hadley, and Huntington have all requested their help.

In Huntington for example, all the roads are impassible at this time except for Route 20 and Route 112.

While the state is working on organizing help for these communities, MEMA says they will call in the National Guard if it becomes necessary.

At this time the driving ban still remains in effect.  No word yet on when it will be lifted.
