BOSTON (AP) — Boston public schools will remain closed on Monday as the city continues to dig out from one of its biggest snow storms on record.
Mayor Thomas Menino says most of the city’s major roads are in good shape, but many residential streets are still clogged with snow.
A parking ban will remain in effect and the mayor urged motorists to remain off the streets if possible and pay careful attention to pedestrians.
The city is working with the state and private contractors to get additional snow-removal equipment, especially front-end loaders, backhoes and dump trucks to remove large piles of snow that are blocking side streets.
Menino said businesses should also consider allowing employees to work from home on Monday.
