After a historic amount of snow fell across southern New England Friday night and early Saturday, we did get a nice little respite yesterday with a bright sunny sky to clean up. The weather system which hit us briefly today with a mixed bag and then some rain has left temperatures tonight above the freezing mark and that differential with the deep snow pack has left us with some very dense fog across the area. Some of the visibility has dropped under one quarter of a mile in some locations so the National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory until 2 am on Tuesday. With a cold front approaching from the west later tonight the wind will shift a bit and things will begin to brighten up tomorrow with sunshine and highs approaching the 40 degree mark. We will continue to see a gentle snow melt this week as highs during the day will hold in the upper 30′s and lower 40′s.
