Bruins Nice picNEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — The Boston Bruins plan to become the latest ambassadors from the world of sports to visit Newtown in the wake of December’s massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary school.

The Bruins have scheduled a series of events in town Monday, including a street-hockey clinic, a clinic with the high school’s hockey team, an autograph session with children and a meeting with first responders, who will be given autographed and framed jerseys.

Coach Claude Julien is expected to be there along with players Chris Bourque, Andrew Ference, Dougie Hamilton, Aaron Johnson, Adam McQuaid, Daniel Paille and Rich Peverley.

Natalie Green Hammond, Sandy Hook Elementary School’s vice principal and a lifelong Bruins fan, also has been invited to drop the first puck at the team’s March 3rd game against Montreal.
