Gunshot Victim Walks into ER


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (wggb)– Police are investigating an early morning robbery gone wrong that left one man with a gunshot wound to the leg. They say it happened just before 3:30 this morning. A 26-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Pendleton Avenue and Eastern Avenue when he was approached by a man with a light complexion, wearing a white hoodie. The suspect asked him for a lighter and as he was reaching in his pocket, the suspect pulled out a silver handgun. Tthe victim says the gun went off when he tried to grab it. He then fled the scene and discovered he had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. A family member then took him to baystate medical center.
The Springfield Detective Bureau is investigating.
