Man walks into Hospital with Gunshot Wound

POLICE-SHOOTING2SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield police are looking for the suspect in an early morning shooting.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday. A 26-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Pendleton Avenue and Eastern Avenue when he was approached by a man described as having a light complexion and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.

The victim told police the suspect asked him for a lighter. When he reached into his pocket, the suspect pulled out a silver handgun.

The victim says the gun went off when he tried to grab it.

He then fled the scene and discovered he had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. A family member took him to Baystate Medical Center.

The Springfield Detective Bureau is investigating.

  1. Dumb story I know cops didn’t believe that lie. Did he have a cigarette or something in his mouth when he asked for a lighter? Because if a random person asks me for a lighter at 2:30 am with no witnesses around I couldn’t help but wonder what he needs the lighter for??
