Power Restored at Springfield’s “X”

power outage

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The lights are back on at the “X” in Springfield.

Nearly 200 customers lost power around 8:00 p.m. Saturday night. A spokesperson for WMECO says there was a problem with an underground cable.

Crews worked into the wee hours of the morning to restore service to the area. Springfield police also called in a crew to direct traffic and used a portable stop sign at the intersections of Sumner Avenue and Dickinson Street and Sumner Avenue and Belmont Avenue.

Power was restored a little after 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
