SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Grief counselors are at Western New England Univ. after the sudden death of a student.

University spokesperson Dave Stawasz says that 20-year-old George Papadoliopoulos collapsed during an intramural basketball Sunday.

Medical attention immediately began on Papadoliopoulos, who was then taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Papadoliopoulos, a sophomore from Hanover, N.H., was a bio-medical engineering major at the school.

Stawasz says that grief counselors are now being offered to members of Papadoliopoulos’ family as well as students and friends on the Springfield campus.
