EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) — A driver who lost control and crashed into the lawn of the East Longmeadow Police Department early Sunday morning remains in critical condition.

That’s according to Baystate Medical Center Spokesperson, Keith O’Connor.

The driver was not carrying any identification at the time of the crash but has since been identified as 19-year-old Michael Speight from East Longmeadow.

It happened around 4:00 a.m. Sunday, police say the young man was driving down Somers Road when he hit a snow bank and crashed into the front lawn of the police station.

Officers say he did not have any obvious injuries but they do believe he may have suffered some internal injuries as he was unresponsive at the scene and was rushed to the hospital.

The crash continues to be investigated.  No charges have been filed yet.

Police say that speed and alcohol may have played a factor.

  1. I went to van sickle middle school years ago and someone set a dumpster outside on fire, it took the fire department 30 minutes to get there. Anyone who lives in/near Springfield knows why they should’ve gotten there in literally 2 minutes LOL! So I dont doubt the police STILL took a while to arrive on the scene. Haha.
