Father & Son Hospitalized in Chicopee Home Invasion, Shooting
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — Detectives are investigating an overnight home invasion and shooting that sent two victims to the hospital.
Chicopee Police Chief Thomas Charette told ABC40 that a father and son were shot in what started as a home invasion allegedly carried out by 34-year-old William Wright of Westfield at around 11:00 p.m. Monday.
Charette said officers arrived on scene at 103 Madison Street fairly quick to find the victims yelling about the ordeal. Officers then began a search for the suspect down the street.
Police said an officer found Wright hiding in a neighbor’s yard. When they tried to apprehend him, they said he fought back and struggled for a short time to apprehend him.
Wright appeared in Chicopee District Court Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with intent to murder and is currently being held without the right to bail until a dangerousness hearing is held on February 26.
The two victims have since been released from Baystate Medical Center and are recovering from their injuries.
