Westfield Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive with OT Win at East Longmeadow

The Westfield Bombers needed two wins in their final two games, coming into Tuesday night’s game at East Longmeadow, in order to make the Western Mass playoffs. Thanks to a monster comeback in the 4th quarter, they now need one win in one game, to finish the job.

Westfield got 24 points from Devin Wells, as the frontcourt bully led a 15-2 charge in the final quarter, to tie the game and force overtime. Westfield trailed 44-31 to start the 4th — not to mention, by 21 at halftime –  but stormed back to tie it in the final seconds of regulation.

Then in OT, DJ Florek scored two huge buckets — one of which a two-handed slam dunk over the East Longmeadow defense — to lead Westfield to the improbable 53-48 win, on the road.

Westfield now needs to win on Thursday night, against Sci-Tech, to finish 10-10, and eligible for the playoffs.
