WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A popular outdoors sports expo is feeling the effects of the national gun debate.
The Sportsmen’s Show started today at the Big E Fairgrounds and one of the groups it caters to is hunters and with hunting comes questions about gun control.
Show organizers say their event is really a family-friendly one with only a few gun displays, but they have gotten feedback on the issue in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting.
“You know we’ve seen a very strong reaction from the second amendment rights folks. We haven’t heard anything negative, not had any blow back. This is all law abiding activity, a lot of fun in the outdoors world,” says Doug Sousa with the Outdoor Sports Expo Group.
The Sportsmen’s Show runs through Sunday at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield.
