HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) – A man who was arrested last year for breaking into a police officer’s car has been arrested again after he allegedly broke into more cars in Holyoke.
Around 11:00 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the Dwight Street parking garage for a report of someone breaking into car.
Holyoke Police Lt. Matthew Moriarty says that the caller also reported that they saw the man, identified by police at 32-year-old Heriberto Mora, allegedly break into another car, and at the point, flee the parking garage.
Thanks to a description provided by the witness, officers were able to find Mora a short time later on Front Street.
When they tried taking Mora into custody, he led officers on a brief foot chase. Moriarty adds that Mora then allegedly fought with the officers when they caught up to him.
Mora was arrested and faces several charges including breaking and entering a motor vehicle to commit a felony, larceny over $250, four outstanding warrants, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Holyoke District Court.
This isn’t the first time Mora has been arrested for breaking into cars downtown. Last March, he was arrested by Holyoke Police after he broke into a police officer’s car while it parked on Nick Cosmos Way, right next to police headquarters.
