Republican Senate Hopeful Gabriel Gomez Visits West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez crisscrossed the state today to kick off his campaign.

His third stop of the day was at the American Legion in West Springfield.

Gomez is the son of Colombian immigrants. He’s a former U.S. Navy SEAL.

Gomez calls himself a new Republican, and a Washington outsider. He says the country is in trouble and feels he has something to offer.

“When I look at Washington I see a lot of bickering, partisanship, and I see a lot of problems. America’s got a lot of problems now but what it needs is problem solvers and that’s exactly why I’m running,” says Gomez.

Besides Gomez, the other Republican candidates in the senate race are former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and State Representative Daniel Winslow.

Democrats in the race are congressmen Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch.
