Pinning Ceremony Celebrates Officer’s Promotion to Sergeant

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield Police honored a new Sergeant today with a pinning ceremony.

At Friday’s ceremony, Commissioner William Fitchet stressed the importance of supervision to police services, saying it’s a critical piece directing crime investigations.

Officer Daniel Reigner has been assigned to the forensics unit in the detective bureau for many years and now is promoted to Sergeant.

Sergeant Reigner says he is thrilled to begin the next step of his career. “I’ve been here for the past 19 years and I’m really looking forward to starting this new chapter in my career as a Sergeant,” he says.

His father, retired Detective John Reigner, pinned the promotional badge on his son.
