Yarmouth Man Charged with Pharmacy Theft

Money3

BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — Police have arrested a man they say took advantage of widespread power outages during a blizzard last month to steal a half million dollars’ worth of prescription painkillers from a Cape Cod pharmacy.

Ronald Kimball Jr. of Yarmouth pleaded not guilty Thursday in Barnstable District Court to charges including drug possession and breaking and entering. He was held on $25,000 bail.

Police say that the 25-year-old Kimball broke into the Apothecare Pharmacy in Hyannis on Feb. 10 and stole 18,000 pills with a street value of $500,000, including oxycodone, methadone and hydrocodone.

Police said it was no coincidence the break-in took place during a major winter storm while power was out. Because there was no power, there was no surveillance video of the break.
