SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The report that a Western New England University student was assaulted on campus last night at knife point has been found to be false by investigators.
According to the WNE spokesperson David Stawasz, the student filed an unfounded report.
At about 9:20 p.m. a student who was in the West parking lot claimed to be assaulted by a male suspect who was armed with a knife. The suspect was described as wearing a dark hoodie.
Campus police continued to investigate the report throughout the night and it was later determined that no assault had taken place.
The report is now being turned over to the WNEU Student Affairs Office who will decide whether or not the student will face disciplinary action.
