Lynch, Markey Deliver Signatures in US Senate Race

Politics-Vote

BOSTON (AP) — Congressmen Stephen Lynch and Edward Markey have both delivered enough certified voter signatures to guarantee themselves a spot on the Democratic primary in the state’s special U.S. Senate election.

Both candidates delivered well over the 10,000 signatures needed to secure a place on the April 30 primary. Markey was accompanied by dozens of supporters as he dropped off his signatures Monday.

On the Republican side Norfolk state Rep. Daniel Winslow has also delivered enough signatures to guarantee a place on the GOP ballot.

Two other Republican Senate hopefuls — former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez — have said they’ve also collected well over 10,000 signatures.

They have until Wednesday to deliver the signature to Secretary of State William Galvin’s office.

The special election in June 25.
