If you ask for help, you better expect to get it. If she doesn’t want help, call her family and let her go. I still say fire the nurse. We RN’s are trained better than that.

Believe it or not there are many rational folks out here who do not want resuscitation .. no matter if it is in a hospital or nursing facility, everyone’s concern is noble but not the families reality ..

I speak to my parents about end of life decisions .. we realize when the time comes we are not interested in prolonging the inevitable .. causing families emotional heartaches, feeding the medical community money for nothing when it is a natural occurrence to live life and then pass away .. qualitiy of life is the most important consideration .. period and it is no ones business but the principals ..

The media and all the healthcare industries want folks to believe they can live forever .. it will not happen .. You can live healthy, take all the pills and do what you will but like the old Polish saying goes ….. ” Death never asks” …

Many, many elderly people put THEMSELVES in these places. Geesh, just because they are older and cannot physically care for themselves doesn’t mean they are brain dead and can’t think for themselves.

That’s the problem. that policy is wrong. FACT the only reason this facility has that policy is because they do not want the liabilty if something goes wrong.

And if there was no DNR on file, then someone should have done something to save that woman’s life! Regardless if the kids say that was her wish. Where is the paperwork on that? I think charges needs to be pressed against this so called nurse!

If more people lives that way the world would be a much better place.
