Holyoke Police Arrest Suspect in Shooting of Father and 5-Year-Old SonHOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Holyoke police have arrested a city man they suspect shot a man and his 5-year-old son Wednesday afternoon on North Summer Street.
21-year-old Brian Marrero of Holyoke was taken into custody around 7:00 p.m. Friday, according to Holyoke Police Chief James Neiswanger.
On Wednesday, officers were called to the area of Lyman Street and North Summer Street around 12:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found two victims: a 5-year-old boy, who was shot in the knee, and a 26-year-old man now identified as Reynaldo Diaz.
Their injuries were non-life threatening.
Right now, Marrero is facing a charge related on an outstanding warrant. Holyoke Police Lt. Matthew Moriarty say they do expect to file a number of firearm charges against him.
More information on Friday’s arrest is set to be released Saturday by Chief Neiswanger.
