H&R Block Working with IRS on Education Tax Credit Filing Issue

H&R BlockSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Many H&R Block customers have been contacted by the IRS concerning an education tax credit.

The issue stems from education tax credits that were claimed before February 22.

In a statement sent to ABC40 tonight the company says, “H&R Block has confirmed with the IRS that there was an issue with certain tax returns filed before February 22, 2013 that included certain education tax credits claimed on Form 8863.  We have worked with the IRS to expedite a solution to this issue for all of our affected clients.”

If you were a customer recently of H&R Block that filed this particular form and have responded to the notice from the IRS requesting more information, or if you have not received a notification, there is nothing you need to do now.

But if you have received the request and have not yet responded to it, please call your local H&R Block or 1-800-HRBLOCK.
