SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Snow fell as many slept and commuters woke up to a good amount of snow in their front yards this morning. This meant for a tough morning commute..
The scene this morning was rather picturesque, but the roads were not so pleasant..
“The roads are very slippery. I keep slipping all over the place,” says Philip Cuevas of Springfield.
Many schools had delays or cancellations, but in Springfield, class began on time.
“We want to be sure that the weather is okay to pick up our children,” adds Earl Brown of Springfield.
Much of the snow was the wet and heavy variety that weighed down tree limbs and power lines.
To clean the mess, plows filled the roads, neighbors helped each other to clear driveways, and one son’s job to help his dad.
“My dad owns a car dealership so I have to go shovel all the dealer by myself”
As we traveled around western Massachusetts Friday morning, it was interesting to see the wide range of snow totals – from a mere couple inches in Easthampton and Westfield, to much greater accumulations just a couple towns over
No matter the difference in accumulation across the state, the mindset for all ABC40 spoke to Friday was the same.
“I’m ready for winter to be over to play baseball,” Cueva adds.
Enrico Malvezzi notes, “I was in Florida 2 weeks ago so I wasn’t expecting to come back to this. It was 85 last Saturday on the beach.”
