“During the game, something happened where he got into a fight with the referee,” says Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney. “Because of that, the referee threw him out of the game and told him he had to leave the park.”
But as the 50-year-old player was being escorted off the field, the real trouble started.
“The 50-year-old victim was confronted by someone he knew as ‘Short Man,’ says Delaney. “During this confrontation, the verbal fight escalated into a physical altercation where ‘Short Man’ pulled out a knife and stabbed the 50-year-old victim, soccer player, in the abdomen.”
The victim was rushed to Baystate Medical Center, where police started asking question.
“We had a good idea who ‘Short Man’ was because that was an alias he had given the police from prior arrests,” says Delaney. “Short man is Carlton White.”
The victim has recovered.
Police have been looking for 49-year-old Carlton White for close to 7 months.
