Paper City Gets Ready for Busy St. Patty’s Day Weekend
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — All the work that goes into Holyoke’s big weekend doesn’t happen overnight.
Some vendors like Diane Mathes of the Lincoln Grill have been preparing for days.
“About a week. Yup, yup, and we have about 900 pounds of potatoes ready to go, maybe 800 burgers and 500 hot dogs and who knows how many sausage,” Mathes said.
Others were working hard throughout today just to be back at it again tomorrow, but vendors aren’t the only ones getting ready.
Many residents host out-of-town guests for the weekend, like Devon.
“I have my friends coming up from Greenfield, and also North Adams to come to the parade,” said Devon.
And even though for many, getting ready for the weekend’s events has been a lot of hard work, they all agree that Holyoke is the place to be for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
Devon couldn’t agree more, “I actually posted that this morning on Facebook, like you need to be in Holyoke this weekend.”
