SOUTHWICK, Mass (WGGB) -For today’s ABC40 Honor Roll we head to Southwick where students placed first in the state Community Problem Solving Competition.

The achievement has qualified two teams at the Powder Mill Middle School to compete in the 2013 international competition. It takes places in June at the University of Indiana.  Students from both teams have formed partnerships with the Tolland and Southwick Councils on Aging.  The kids are working with elders to find ways to improve their lives through various interactions.

Also, the team is currently creating a “how to” guide for providing community service for our aging population. The students are also dedicated to saving and repurposing student art which will be offered to Shriner’s and Baystate Children’s Hospital.
