SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Police are investigating an afternoon shooting in Springfield’s North End.
The call came in around 2:10 Friday afternoon after shots rang out near Cecilia’s Barber Shop at 2890 Main Street.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says a 23-year-old man told investigators that he was sitting in a chair inside the shop, waiting for a haircut, when he heard four gunshots go off and saw people running.
One of those bullets grazed the man’s shoulder and first aid was administered at the scene.
Delaney adds that investigators believe that the victim was not the intended target and that while several people in the area when the gunfire rang out, “nobody is cooperating with the police.”
The case remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Springfield Police Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355 or ‘Text-A-Tip.’
