LUDLOW, Mass. (WGGB) — It was one last blast of winter before the start of Spring.
Overnight, snow began falling throughout western Massachusetts and didn’t let up until the morning commute was over.
You just knew that winter wouldn’t go down without a fight on the last day of the season. The first thing people saw was snow.
“It’s awful. It’s cold. It’s snowing.”
Billy Larimore doesn’t seen much snow in South Carolina, but even grizzled New England snow veterans have had their fill.
While not a super storm, most had at least a few inches to deal
“You see, right here and right out here, winter just doesn’t want to give up,” laments one motorist.
The snow was washed away fairly quickly on the Pike and other Mass. highways, but MassDOT dropped the speed limit down to 40 given the freezing temps and icing roads.
“I could do without it. [Your preference is for no storm] That’s right. [What were the roads like?] They were pretty slippery, coming from Lee. They werent bad coming from North Adams and Pittsfield, but once we got to Lee, they were pretty bad,” notes another motorist.
State police reported numerous spinouts, but no serious accidents or injuries.
So winter officially ends tomorrow, but with a new coating of snow, it sure wont look like Spring tomorrow.
