SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Some new safety measures could soon be on the way for Springfield Public Schools in light of recent tragedies at schools nationwide.
The Special Committee on School Safety of the City Council met tonight to look at what those measures might be.
Some of the things the committee wants to look at are bullet proof glass, reinforcing building entrances and other school district’s safety plans.
ABC40 spoke with Springfield City Councilor, James Ferrera who says, ”The most important thing we can do is protect our most precious cargo our school children and we have to ensure all aspects of safety are being installed in public school.”
The City Council Committee will work with the School Committee and will ultimately make recommendations to Mayor Sarno and Superintendent Warwick.

Really ? You need a SPECIAL COMMITTEE for this. Well isn’t that …………….SPECIAL !!!
Can I make a suggestion? Have security outside on the school grounds before and after school. My son had a knife held to his belly for his lunch money and I got little help from the school. These measures should have been made long ago.
