“Stop The Violence” Rally Held at Springfield City Hall

Violence Rally really a sit down

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) —  Some 50 people gathered at Springfield City Hall tonight for a “Stop The Violence” rally in connection with Youth Violence Prevention Week.

A number of agencies partnered together to organize the event.

It focused on providing kids with activities to keep them off the streets and drug and alcohol free.

Organizers say it’s not always an easy message to get across.

Safe and Successful Youth Coordinator, Jeanne Bein told us, “Some of the parents themselves are in dire need of services so when you’re living under that environment they’re not good role models and so we’re here to provide support in any way we can to make a stable family environment and help these kids.”

The Springfield Police Department and the Mayor’s Citywide Violence Prevention Task Force were also involved in the event.
