Vet Leaves Gift for Mass. Woman, Deployed Boyfriend
(CNN) — A military veteran left a touching surprise for a woman Mass. woman based on her car sticker.
Samantha Ford wears her heart on her car.
“I put a sticker on. It says, half my heart is in Afghanistan,” says Ford.
Her boyfriend, Army Specialist Albert Disimone, deployed in September. They’ve known each other since fifth grade.
“I just can’t wait until he comes home. Counting down the days, but it’s definitely been hard.”
Last weekend, she was coming out of this Arlington Dunkin’ Donuts.
Ford notes, “I came out and I immediately saw something on my car. At first, I thought it was a ticket, so I wasn’t too happy.”
But, it was a note that read “I noticed the sticker on the back of your car. Take your hero out to dinner when he comes home. Thank you both for serving. Him deployed and you for waiting.”
“I just started crying,” Ford says, and inside the envelope, they left two $20 bills.
That night, Ford shared her story on Facebook.
She also posted this story to a military website and almost overnight, it got more than a million likes.
She’d love to meet the secret donor. “If I can’t find them, I just want them to know that we are very grateful and completely touched by it and I can’t think of anything to do other than pay it forward and let that person know they made a difference.”
Samantha does want to pay this forward, so rather than choosing a restaurant, she’s thinking of ways to bring comfort to other people far from their loved ones.
